An open letter from our founders
This is not a normal startup
There's a wall in our office covered with rejection emails from investors who passed on us. Next to them hangs a hand-drawn revenue chart that starts at $1,000 in monthly revenue and climbs into the billions.
We made it when things weren't going well. Mark's calendar was empty. Our Stripe dashboard was empty. Our ideas list wasn't looking much better. We had left good jobs to try this, and there were plenty of moments when that decision looked questionable. But there was something in both of us that refused to buckle. We wanted to build a genuinely valuable business. In software, revenue is the clearest scoreboard we know. Customers don't pay you because you worked hard or had a clever idea. They pay you because you made something useful enough to be worth their money. The incentives line up: we only really win when our customers do.
The line has moved a long way since those empty-calendar days. Today, large companies use Solidroad to train and improve their human and AI agents. Relative to what we want to build, we are still near the bottom of the chart.
Solidroad Tower

We have another poster on our wall. It shows an updated Google Maps listing for the tower formerly known as Salesforce Tower. In our version, it has been renamed Solidroad Tower after we acquired the naming rights as part of becoming the anchor tenant.
Next to it is a fake headline announcing Solidroad's IPO in 2032. Salesforce doesn't own Salesforce Tower. It became the anchor tenant, and the naming rights came with the lease. Our plan is to do the same.
That's the scale of our ambition. We want to build an enduring technology company large enough to put its name on the San Francisco skyline.
There are a lot of steps between here and there. Thousands of customers to win. Difficult problems to solve. Products to build. Mistakes to make and learn from. And, most importantly, a company to build with exceptional people who want to do the best work of their careers.
If that sounds like an exciting way to spend a meaningful chunk of your career, keep reading.
Our philosophy

A job and a hobby
Nobody clocks in and out of an obsession. We want people drawn to work that's hard and rewarding enough that they'd put real hours into it because they want to, the kind of work that expands your life rather than just filling your calendar. As someone here put it, working at Solidroad is like signing up for a job and an Ironman.
An elite team, not a happy family
We hold a high standard for everyone, and we earn our spots through the work rather than through tenure or loyalty. Performance is what counts, and we give each other direct, honest feedback in service of it. That means no coasting, and no avoiding hard conversations.
Capitalism is a contact sport
There are no participation trophies. We're in a daily competition to earn our customers' business, against every other company and every other solution that wants it too. Our job is to be better than all of them, and then to earn that position again the next day.
Be so good they can't ignore you
You can win by narrowly edging out the competition, or you can win by a margin wide enough that the contest isn't close. We aim for the second. Everything gets easier when you win decisively.
Name the elephant
If something's broken, we say so. If a plan isn't working, we flag it. We don't dance around uncomfortable truths or wait for someone else to raise them, because the fastest way to fix a problem is to admit it exists.
The people who do their best work here tend to share a few things.
Someone on the Solid Road
- CompetitiveThey want to win, not just take part.
- AmbitiousThey keep raising the bar for themselves.
- PassionateThey bring real energy to whatever they touch.
- An entrepreneurThey act like an owner: find the way, build the thing, ship it.

- Motivated by successEnergised by results, not just effort.
Someone on the Weak Path

- StubbornStruggles to adapt when things change or feedback is given.
- UnreliableSomeone you can’t trust to be there when it matters most.

What you’ll get
Equity that could matter.
We're trying to build Solidroad for decades, not optimise it for a quick exit. If you help build it, you should own a meaningful piece of what you helped create.
2032
IPO headline on our office wall
People as driven as you are.
Our sales team could sell sand in the desert, and our product team can build almost anything, quickly. The bar is high. We want people who will raise it again, and who want the people around them to do the same.

Problems worth solving.
Customer operations is where all the complexity of a large company eventually lands. The problems are messy, hard and important. Solve one properly and the next customer shouldn't have to encounter it at all.

Customer operations work each year
A front-row seat to AI.
LLMs have changed what software can do. Having the model is the easy part. The hard part is turning that capability into something a large company can trust with a real customer. That’s the problem we get to work on every day.

The resources to go fast.
We raised a $25M Series A led by Hedosophia, after earlier backing from First Round Capital and Y Combinator. That gives us the capital to move quickly, take real swings and invest behind the things that work.
